Stop giving Morgan Wallen a hard time. He's not perfect, but he's talented and giving back
Editor's note: The letters to editor are opinions shared by readers regarding The Tennessean story: “Morgan Wallen's sign for new Broadway bar rejected by city council,” May 22.
Walk a mile in Morgan Wallen’s boots
Before you throw Morgan Wallen under the beer bus please keep this in mind.
Johnny Cash, Merle Haggard, George Jones, Willie Nelson, Hank Williams Jr. and Sr., Glen Campbell, Waylon Jennings, Tanya Tucker, etc., all had issues with drug and alcohol addictions, jail time and assorted bad behavior.
So, Morgan Wallen has some more oats to sow and growing up to do, but give him a break. He is a brilliant writer and entertainer. He sold out Nissan Stadium three nights in a row.
Add him to the list, but just like the rest of the greats, he'll get it right.
And, while continuing to make incredible music all along the way.

Point: Morgan Wallen is reckless, but Nashville should’ve approved his honky-tonk sign
Counterpoint: Stop deifying Morgan Wallen and excusing downtown Nashville’s excesses
Wallen is giving back; cut him some slack
I am planning on moving to Nashville. I am 85 years old, in perfect health, I have a barn full of horses, and I am a businesswoman.
I love Morgan Wallen. Last year I crisscrossed the country to eight of his concerts.
I love, not only his music and talent, but how humble and appreciative he is of his fans. And he has an incredible work ethic.
So now, I have to ask, if you are making such a strong decision affecting his life, have you reached out to him?
He is a huge part of the community and obviously loves Nashville. In 2023, Morgan donated $500,000 to revitalize Nashville’s Parkwood Community ballpark for the youngsters of your community, regardless of the color of their skin, but for all children.
Metro Council, please rethink your decision.

Morgan Wallen is being punished to no end
Please stop discrimination of Morgan Wallen. Yes he said the n-word while drunk and not thinking. If you watched the video he actually used the word the same way the rappers do that he was hanging out with making music.
How long does he have to pay for a mistake in the woke town of Nashville? I am a Tennessee native living here my entire life and I am actually ashamed of the treatment he has been receiving. Do you think the shunning by the awards shows could have triggered the bad behavior?
Think about that. It's time to move on and start treating him better. He has a lot of fans that go to the polls and vote remember that also.
