Street takeover suspect crashes on 101 Freeway following pursuit
A driver believed to be involved in a street takeover in West Covina crashed on the 101 Freeway in Hollywood Hills following a pursuit late Monday night.
The street takeover occurred in the area of South Nogales Street and Valley Boulevard prompting California Highway Patrol officers to try to pull over one of the vehicles on the westbound 60 Freeway at Fullerton Road just after 10:45 p.m.
The vehicle failed to yield and a pursuit ensued, a CHP spokesperson confirmed to KTLA.
At one point, the CHP called off the pursuit due to construction taking place on the freeway, the spokesperson said.
Law enforcement caught up with the vehicle after the driver crashed on the northbound 101 Freeway south of Barham Boulevard around 11:30 p.m.
It was unclear if anyone was injured in the crash, which left the suspect’s vehicle on its side but two people were detained, the spokesperson said.
