Suspect arrested in Central City homicide

NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — A man has been arrested for allegedly shooting and killing a man in the Central City area in July.
The investigation began around 1:40 a.m. on Tuesday, July 23 when the New Orleans Police Department responded to a report of a shooting in the 2400 block of Dryades Street.

When officers arrived, 41-year-old Tony Jones was found with multiple gunshot wounds. He was transported by New Orleans Emergency Services to a local hospital where he was later declared dead.
The NOPD later identified 39-year-old Dana “Dante” Dorceus as the alleged shooter.
On Sunday, Aug. 18, the NOPD reports Dorceus was arrested and charged with second-degree murder. He was booked into the Orleans Parish Justice Center.
