Suspect arrested in fatal northwest Columbus shooting
COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) — A Dublin man is under arrest, accused of shooting and killing an 18-year-old woman Saturday in northwest Columbus.
Mika Lee Cannon, 22, has been charged with murder in the fatal shooting of Kiara Nelson early Saturday morning.
According to court records, Nelson was caught in the middle of a domestic dispute between Cannon and Nelson’s sister. Nelson was attempting to protect her sister from Cannon when the sister, who was in a bedroom, heard a gunshot, court records state. When the woman returned to the room, she saw Nelson on the floor and Cannon allegedly leaving in a hurry out the front door.
Cannon is scheduled to be arraigned in Franklin County Municipal Court on Wednesday. He is currently in custody in Franklin County Jail.
