Suspect in killing of rapper Blac Youngsta’s brother caught in Memphis

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A man wanted for the deadly shooting of Tomanuel Benson, the brother of Memphis rapper Blac Youngsta, was caught in Memphis Tuesday night, according to the U.S. Marshals Service.

Police said on August 18, 2023, officers responded to a shooting at the BP gas station on South Parkway East, where Benson was found with a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Detectives developed 28-year-old Randy Darnell Ewing Jr. as a suspect and issued warrants for second-degree murder, criminal attempt second-degree murder, and a firearm offense.

US Marshals offer $5K reward for attempted murder suspect

Ewing was caught Tuesday night after U.S. Marshals and the MPD Fugitive team searched for him around the Lamar Avenue and Winchester Road area. He was seen walking along Creighton Avenue.

Ewing was apprehended by a K9 during a foot chase. The U.S. Marshals said he was armed with a handgun at the time of his arrest.

He was treated at a local hospital and then transported to the Shelby County Jail.
