Suspects in 2022 homicide of John Ehret student head to court

MARRERO, La. (WGNO) — The trial has begun for the suspects in the 2022 shooting death of a Jefferson Parish high school student.
On Tuesday, Feb. 22, 2022, the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office arrested Davon and Daveon Gilmore and Orlando Washington in connection to the death of 16-year-old Ahmad Howard, a John Ehret High School Junior.

According to JPSO deputies, Howard was shot and killed as he waited at his bus stop in the 1800 block of Betty Street in Marrero on Monday, Feb. 21, 2022, at 7:30 a.m.
JPSO deputies were called to the scene and upon arrival, they reported finding Howard suffering from a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead on the scene and investigations into the homicide began.

Davon Gilmore was arrested on a charge of second-degree murder and was held on a $500,000 bond. Daveon Gilmore was arrested and charged with illegal use of a weapon, aggravated criminal damage to property, and second-degree murder with no bond.
If convicted the three can face a possible life sentence in prison.
