TANGIPAHOA PARISH, La. (WGNO) — A Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office deputy has been terminated following a use of force investigation.

According to Sheriff Gerald Sticker, former deputy Randall Kelley had been with the agency since February and had previous time with the department from March 2020 through May 2022.

Stricker said on Monday, Aug. 5, Kelley responded to a home on Happywoods Road on a threat complaint. When he entered the home, Sticker said Kelley allegedly tackled an individual and placed him under arrest on four counts of resisting arrest.

An investigation revealed the incident was caught on the home surveillance cameras and shared to social media.

After being made aware of the video, Stricker reportedly took Kelley out of the field, confiscated his gear and unit and was placed on administrative leave.

“As I have said before, this agency deserves better and this community deserves better.
The actions of this one deputy are not reflective of the standards I have established nor
the genuine day-in-and-day-out positive encounters our men and women have with our
residents,” said Stricker.

As a result of the investigation, Kelley was terminated with additional actions under consideration.

The person arrested has since been released with efforts underway to have the charges dropped.

Stricker is asking the public to report any “unsatisfactory encounters” with deputies so that they can be investigated.
