Tangipahoa Parish jail inmate’s death under investigation
TANGIPAHOA PARISH, La. (WGNO) — The Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office is investigating the death of an inmate that happened on Thursday, July 25.
Deputies report that at 5:45 a.m., 47-year-old Christopher Montrell Woodard told jail personnel that he was not feeling well but before he could make it to the medical, he became unresponsive.

Woodard had been in custody since Monday, July 22 on an outstanding warrant and on charges of operating an off-road vehicle on the road and resisting an officer.
TPSO deputies said they called an ambulance as they performed life-saving measures. Woodard was taken to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead, according to deputies.
The incident is under investigation and deputies say Woodard’s cause of death will be released after an autopsy is done.
