Taylor Swift’s endorsement of Harris might not sway Trump voters — but it could decide a close race
Moments after the ABC News Presidential Debate ended, Taylor Swift — arguably the most influential entertainer in the world — announced that she will be voting for Vice President Kamala Harris as the next president of the United States. However, according to a new Yahoo News/YouGov poll, only 8% of Americans say Swift’s endorsement makes them more likely to vote for Harris in November. Yahoo News National Correspondent Andrew Romano breaks down the numbers and reveals the one group swayed by Swift that could decide the election.

So last week, right after the presidential debate, Taylor Swift came out, endorsed Kamala Harris.
We asked about what effect that endorsement might have in our poll.
The results are back, it shows the effect will probably be pretty small.
So only 8% of Americans said that Taylor Swift's endorsement would make them more likely to vote for Kamala Harris.
64% said it would make no difference in how they voted.
We can dig a little deeper into those numbers though of the eight who said they're more likely to vote for Kamala Harris because of Taylor Swift's endorsement.
About 90% of them were already definitely voting for Kamala Harris.
So they're just more definitely voting for Kamala Harris on the flip side.
About 22% said that they are less likely to vote for Kamala Harris because of Taylor Swift's endorsement.
Pretty much all of them.
Another 90% of them already were definitely voting for Donald Trump.
So the same thing Taylor Swift's endorsement is not changing Donald Trump voters into Kamala Harris voters or vice versa, but it could have one important effect.
About 12% of us adults say they fit these three categories.
They view Kamala Harris favorably.
They view Donald Trump unfavorably and they are not registered to vote.
Now, it's a very small sliver of the electorate.
But if all of them showed up to vote for Kamala, that would be a one point bump in her head to head number against Donald Trump.
It's not a lot, but in a close race it could make a difference.
