Taylor Swift's Fans Are Proving To Be a Powerful Voice in Trying To Get Kamala Harris Elected
The 2024 presidential election has provided more twists and turns than any voter could have ever imagined. In the wake of President Joe Biden withdrawing as the presumptive Democratic nominee and Vice President Kamala Harris stepping up, Taylor Swift’s fanbase has officially mobilized to support the new candidate as they wait for the 34-year-old pop star to weigh in.
The “Shake It Off” singer’s loyal fanbase has independently started an X account, “Swifties for Harris,” and it’s garnered almost 33,000 followers as of July 23. The bio describes that group as a “Coalition of Swifties ready to mobilize Taylor Swift fans to help get Democratic candidates elected up & down the ballot! (Not affiliated with Taylor Swift).” But we all know they are hoping Swift will step into the political fray and endorse Kamala Harris.

Vanity Fair noted that Swift is “the influencer to end all influencers, able to wield her massive popularity and power effectively enough to impact economies and legislation, moviemaking practices and album release strategies.” That’s a pretty big statement to make, but the Swifties have proven to be a formidable bunch who passionately follow her lead. If Swift chose to endorse Kamala Harris, it would be “an incomparable asset to the former California senator’s nascent 2024 presidential campaign.”
Fans have seen Swift use her voice in the past after keeping quiet about politics until the 2018 midterm elections. In her Miss Americana documentary, she made the brave move of endorsing two Democratic players in Tennessee — it was a move that could have ended badly for Swift, but it seemed to have inspired her followers. “I need to be on the right side of history,” she said in the Netflix doc just moments before publishing her post.
It wouldn’t be out of pocket for Swift to endorse Kamala Harris since she publicly supported the Joe Biden/Kamala Harris ticket in 2020. She believed that duo was the “chance to start the healing process it so desperately needs” after Donald Trump’s four years in office. She told V Magazine, “The change we need most is to elect a president who recognizes that people of color deserve to feel safe and represented, that women deserve the right to choose what happens to their bodies, and that the LGBTQIA+ community deserves to be acknowledged and included.”
Swift will be back on American soil after the European leg of her Eras Tour wraps up in London on Aug. 20. It would be the perfect time to make a campaign stop in support of Kamala Harris — and the Swifties would also give their stamp of approval.
