I-Team: What Bobby George’s ex-girlfriend told police in rape, attempted murder case

CLEVELAND (WJW) — A newly released police report filed by the ex-girlfriend of local business owner Bobby George accuses the 43-year-old of a violent assault that caused her to be hospitalized and also alleges he put tracking devices on her phone and vehicle.

The report was filed by the 25-year-old woman on Aug. 8, one day before police detectives arrested George on several charges including attempted murder, rape and kidnapping.

“The victim states she can recall incidents but does not know the exact dates,” the report states. “Victim states about a year ago she attempted to leave the suspect and he would block her from leaving. The victim states the suspect would pull her hair or kick her to stop her from leaving.”

The report also noted that the victim said she had proof that George admitted the assaults.

“The victim also states that on several occasions the suspect has strangled her and when she would attempt to scream or yell for help the suspect would shove a towel in her mouth,” the report further noted. “The victim states last October the suspect grabbed her by her hair and smashed her head into a table multiple times. The victim states after this assault she had blood coming from her ears and she had to be hospitalized. The victim is unaware of what hospital she went to but she states that the suspect paid for the treatment.”

The woman also told police was in a relationship with George and they lived together for two years.

“The victim states that she believes the suspect has put trackers on her phone as well as her vehicle and she also states the suspect has people follow her around,” the report states.

Attorney Kevin Spellacy, who represents George, said his client is innocent and denies all the allegations. He added that his client and the woman broke up about 10 days ago.

“One of the allegations is that she was assaulted July 27 but they were seen together after that,” Spellacy said.

He also was very critical of the police investigation, saying his client never got the chance to talk to detectives before he was charged.

George surrendered to police on Tuesday and then appeared in Cleveland Municipal Court. He was released after posting 10 percent of a $200,000 bond.

His case has been bound over to the Cuyahoga County grand jury. It will now be up to grand jurors to determine if George should be indicted.
