(PINPOINT WEATHER) — Good afternoon, and happy Wednesday! It was an absolute scorcher across the region, with highs pushing up to around the 100-degree mark. The good news is that we are expecting a slight cooldown as we head into the weekend, thanks to scattered showers and storms over the next few days. Highs will still be in the 90s, but we will be closer to 90 than 100.

As for tonight and Thursday, an isolated shower or storm is possible this evening before partly cloudy skies and lows in the low 70s overnight. Thursday will start off dry, but we are expecting more widespread showers and storms to pop up across the region, along with more cloud cover, keeping our highs in the low 90s.

Friday and the weekend look to bring more of the same, with hot temperatures along with daily afternoon showers and storm chances. Friday will be another day with highs in the low 90s with dry weather in the morning, with scattered showers and storms to flare up during the afternoon hours and last into the evening hours. More of the same is expected Saturday and Sunday, with hit-and-miss showers and storms in the afternoon along with hot temperatures, especially on Sunday.

A front will move through later in the day Sunday and help to usher in a drop in temperatures and mugginess for at least the start of next week. Highs in the low 90s are expected for Monday and Tuesday before temperatures start to move back up again into the mid and upper 90s for the middle of the week.

In the meantime, do what you can to stay cool! Have a great night!
