Tennessee Voices, Episode 306: Matthew Martin, CEO, Dalamar Homes
The COVID pandemic era has made building homes more difficult because of supply chain issues, workforce shortages and inflation.
This has led to the scarcity and affordability issues that limit many prospective homeowners’ options. While the market has slowed, due to factors such as rising interest rates, the upside is that it is giving builders more time to complete projects and increase the supply of homes.
On this episode of the Tennessee Voices video podcast, Matthew Martin, CEO of Dalamar Homes, spoke about the housing market, the supply and demand challenges, and the factors that drive consumers' choices when looking for a house.
Dalamar is a custom home builder in Middle Tennessee founded by his mother, Dayla Martin, who started on the design side of the business. She has helped mentor women in construction and engineering.
Matthew Martin recently wrote a guest opinion column on things people should consider when they are moving from one residence to another.
These factors include proximity to good schools, grocery stores and hospitals, among others.
Home builders also pay attention to commercial projects that might add amenities to a neighborhood.
We also discussed the affordable housing crisis and how his company is trying to help fill the gap that has kept many people from home ownership.
