Tennessee Voices, Episode 356: Kyle Bush, CEO at Cumberland Creative
The emergence of COVID created existential crises for many small businesses and entrepreneurs that faced already challenges during pre-pandemic times.
They had to figure out how to pivot in a very different world.
For Cumberland Creative, a video production company, the novel coronavirus created an opportunity to tell more stories than ever even while trying to survive.
On this episode of the Tennessee Voices video podcast, CEO Kyle Bush shared how his company changed course and found a way to become more attuned to its employees and its clients.
In March, he wrote a guest opinion column titled "Four tips to ensure employees are happy and heard."
Listening, honesty, empowerment and proactive decisions are key, he wrote.
Some lessons he learned during COVID about how people interact with video storytelling is that there is a myth that everything has to be short.
He found that there is a demand for depth and authenticity that can allow for longer stories.
He and his team found that doing justice to a story means pushing through the humanity of their subjects.
