Tickets on sale for PACE’s 13th annual OUTnorthLa film festival

SHREVEPORT, La. (KTAL/KMSS) – Tickets for the 13th annual OUTnorthLa Film Festival go on sale Wednesday, August 28th.

The event is sponsored by People Acting for Change and Equality (PACE) and takes place at the Robinson Film Center, 617 Texas Street in Downtown Shreveport. The festival, which features LGBTQ+ documentaries and films, runs from September 6th through 12th.

Tickets for the opening weekend reception on Saturday, September 7th, at 6:00 p.m., are already on sale at OUTnorthLa.org. The reception at Robinson Film Center will feature heavy hors d’oeuvres and a cash bar. Tickets are $10 each.

Opening weekend highlights

  • Friday, 6:30 pm, Sept. 6:  American Parent will screen opening night with filmmakers Emily Railsback and Caroline Posse conducting a Q&A afterwards. The everyday chaos of raising a toddler is intensified for a lesbian couple as they maneuver through the pandemic and professional uncertainty.

  • Saturday, 7:30 pm, Sept. 7:  Our Son will screen following the 6 pm reception. The all-star cast includes Billy Porter, Luke Evans, Andrew Rannells, and Phylicia Rashad.  Nicky (Luke Evans), a book publisher devoted to his work, lives with his husband Gabriel (Billy Porter), a former actor and stay-at-home dad, and their eight-year-old son Owen. Gabriel loves Owen more than anything; Nicky loves Gabriel more than anything. Despite appearances, Gabriel has been dissatisfied with their marriage for some time and files for divorce, leading to a custody battle that forces both of them to confront the changing reality of their love for each other and for their son.

  • Sunday, 3 pm, Sept. 8:  Kiss Me Kosher followed by a Q&A.  A subversive love story between clashing cultures and families. Kiss Me Kosher is a romantic misadventure crossing all borders. When two generations of Israeli women fall for a German woman and a Palestinian man, chaos follows.
