\MADISON – Democratic vice presidential candidate Tim Walz will campaign in Wausau on Friday, the Harris-Walz campaign told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.

Walz, the governor of Minnesota and a former member of Congress, accepted the party's nomination as Vice President Kamala Harris's running mate at the Democratic National Convention last month in Chicago.

The Walz visit to Wausau is part of a campaign effort to barnstorm battleground states following Tuesday's debate between Harris and Republican former President Donald Trump.

The Harris-Walz campaign has pledged to hit every media market in every battleground state in the coming week, with Harris starting in North Carolina and heading to Pennsylvania. Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff and Minnesota First Lady Gwen Walz are also scheduled to campaign. Gwen Walz is scheduled to attend a debate watch party in La Crosse on Tuesday night.

The Harris-Walz campaign will also air a new ad in battleground states following Tuesday's debate.

“This election is about two very different visions for our country. Donald Trump and JD Vance want to take us backward with their dangerous and extreme Project 2025 agenda. Vice President Harris and Governor Walz are fighting for a New Way Forward that protects our fundamental freedoms, strengthens our democracy, and ensures every person has the opportunity to not just get by, but to get ahead,” said Harris-Walz campaign spokesman Michael Tyler in a statement.

Harris is set to visit North Carolina on Thursday and Pennsylvania on Thursday and Friday, while Walz campaigns in Michigan and Wisconsin. Emhoff will make stops in Nevada, Arizona, and Florida, while Gwen Walz visits Georgia, New Hampshire and Maine.

The campaign will also launch a national ad targeted to eight battleground states highlighting Harris' support for a federal ban on food price gouging, capping the cost of prescription drugs and working to increase access to affordable housing.

The ad will air in Arizona, Nevada, Georgia, Michigan, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, North Carolina and Nebraska.

Trump campaigned twice in Wisconsin in a matter of days, taking part in a town hall discussion in La Crosse on Aug. 29 and rallying supporters in central Wisconsin on Saturday.
