Tonawanda man arrested in connection with homicide at Shaffer Village apartments
BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — A Tonawanda man was arrested Saturday in connection with a homicide that occurred in September 2023 at the Shaffer Village apartments on Isabelle Street, Buffalo police announced.
At 10:45 a.m. on Sept. 23, officers responded to a call about a suspicious incident at the complex.
Officials said when officers arrived, they tracked blood and footprints in a hallway to a dead body in an apartment. The victim was identified as 39-year-old Jose Barreto-Gonzales of no permanent address.
Detectives immediately started an investigation and a suspect was identified and then apprehended Saturday on the 100 block of Hertel Avenue without incident, according to police.
Adalberto Bermudez, 46, was charged with one count of second-degree murder.
