Tony Hadley speaks out on being replaced with younger Spandau Ballet frontman

Singer Tony Hadley has spoken out after being replaced by a younger frontman for band Spandau Ballet.

The music icon has broken his silence on what he thinks about the new face of the band and how long he’d known the change was happening.

Tony, 57, shared his thoughts on the replacement to his 51.3k followers, after his band replaced him.

‘At last it’s been announced that Ross William Wild is my replacement … I’ve known for ages (can’t really keep a secret in this business!), but didn’t want to spoil the news. So good luck Ross! Best wishes, Tone X,’ he graciously said to the new frontman, Ross, who is 30.

Tony also reminded his existing fans that just because he’s no longer a part of Spandau Ballet, it doesn’t mean there won’t be any new music coming from him: ‘I can’t wait to share new music with you all. Let know which shows you’re coming to. Thanks for the continued support.’

Tony quit the band last year after being a part of it for decades. He cited ‘circumstances beyond my control’, but didn’t elaborate other than for bandmate Steven Norman to comment: ‘bullsh*t’.

The remaining members of the band, including Kemp brothers Gary and Martin, have a new album out next week titled The Next Line.

Despite Spandau Ballet’s success in the 1980s with hits like Gold and the chart topper (and album title) True, they fell out in 1990 – subsequently splitting up – when Tony and fellow bandmates Steve and John Keeble attempted to unsuccessfully sue Gary Kemp for royalties.

They did, however, reform in 2009 and 2014, before Tony again ended things last year.
