Topeka man drowns in Douglas County lake over the weekend
DOUGLAS COUNTY (KSNT) – The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office announced Monday morning a Topeka man died over the weekend in a drowning at Clinton Lake.
The victim of a drowning on July 13 is being identified as Cesar Cardenas Olivas, 23 of Topeka. First responders recovered his body that night near Bloomington Beach after a search was initiated following reports of a man struggling in the water at the lake around 5 p.m.
Olivas’ body was found by the Douglas County underwater search and recovery team. Sheriff’s deputies, Lawrence Douglas County Fire Medical and the Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks assisted with this recovery.
