Topeka police investigating homicide near downtown

TOPEKA (KSNT) – 27 News has confirmed that Topeka Police are investigating a fatal shooting Monday evening near Downtown Topeka. The police department confirmed that it’s the 8th homicide in the city this year.

27 News arrived Monday to find officers on scene at the intersection SW 13th and Western Ave. According to a watch commander for the Topeka Police Department, calls for shots fired in the area came in around 10 p.m. Monday night. Officers found one person wounded, who was later pronounced dead.
