Train derails, hits garage in Niagara Falls
BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — A train appeared to derail and hit a garage on Seneca Avenue near 35th Street in Niagara Falls on Monday morning.
A Niagara Falls police source told WIVB that the call went out at 8:15 a.m. CSX said that the train was not equipped for remote control operations. The train went through a berm and hit the garage.
In a statement, CSX said that diesel fuel was lost but that “there were no injuries, no impacts to waterways, and there is no risk to the public.”
A WIVB photographer on scene captured the train hitting the garage on the back part of the home. There were multiple emergency crew units on scene.
The cause of the incident is under investigation.
