Trial date for suspect in Young Dolph death pushed back

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Justin Johnson, one of the men accused of being involved in the killing of Memphis rapper Young Dolph, will have his trial date rescheduled.

Initially, Johnson’s trial was set to start on June 3, 2024. However, his attorneys believed that they would not have enough time to have their evidence reviewed by experts.

Thursday, the Criminal Court agreed and granted an extension. The new trial date has not been set.

Back in February, a judge granted Johnson a change of venue request. The case will be heard in Shelby County, but they will bring in outside jurors.

Justin Johnson, 25, is facing a slew of charges including first-degree murder.
