Trump allies react to shooting at Pennsylvania rally
Donald Trump’s top allies reacted to news that the former president was rushed off stage after an apparent shooting during his rally in Butler, Pa. on Saturday.
Among those who quickly weighed in were Ohio Sen. JD Vance (R), who has been rumored to be Trump’s pick for vice president.
“Everyone join me in praying for our President Trump and everyone at that rally. I hope everyone is ok,” Vance said.
Florida Sen. Marco Rubio (R ), another vice-presidential contender, also said he was praying for Trump and everyone who attended the rally.
“We all know President Trump is stronger than his enemies. Today he showed it,” said North Dakota Gov. Doug Burgum (R ) on X.

Rubio and Vance both posted pictures of Trump with what appears to be blood on his face and holding up his fist, with secret service members surrounding him. The image was also shared by other supporters of the former president on X.
Trump’s former vice president, Mike Pence, also responded on X.
“Karen and I are praying for President Trump and urge every American to join us,” Pence said on X.
Trump’s other former 2024 Republican primary rivals Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R), former UN Ambassador Nikki Haley, and businessman Vivek Ramaswamy all took to X to say they were praying for the former president.
Congressional Republicans, including House Majority Leader Steve Scalise (R-La.) who was shot in 2017, also reacted to the news.
“There is never any place for political violence,” Scalise said in a post on X.
Trump hustled off stage after apparent shooting at rally
Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) also responded to the news, praising the Secret Service.
“Tonight, all Americans are grateful that President Trump appears to be fine after a despicable attack on a peaceful rally. Violence has no place in our politics. We appreciate the swift work of the Secret Service and other law enforcement,” McConnell said.
