Trump attacks ‘wacky,’ ‘vicious,’ ‘not-smart’ former protégé Omarosa

President Trump coined a new nickname for former White House aide Omarosa Manigault Newman as she releases secret audio recordings related to her firing: “Wacky Omarosa.”

On Monday morning, Trump tweeted that Manigault Newman, who rose to prominence as a contestant on “The Apprentice,” begged him for a position in his administration with “tears in her eyes.” Trump said he gave her a job despite how disliked she was in the White House and said she was “vicious,” “not smart” and regularly missed meetings.

According to Trump, White House chief of staff John Kelly never liked Manigault Newman — calling her a loser and “nothing but problems” — but the president urged Kelly to work it out because she had said only wonderful things about him.

Trump admitted that it’s unbecoming for a president to “take on a lowlife like Omarosa” but said he needs to speak up because the “Fake News Media” will try to make her look legitimate.

Manigault Newman was a longtime Trump ally until her resignation in January 2018. She was the director of African-American outreach for his presidential campaign and became an adviser in his White House.

On Sunday, Trump aide Kellyanne Conway was asked on ABC’s “This Week” to name a high-ranking African American working in the White House. She mentioned HUD Secretary Ben Carson and someone named “Ja’Ron,” evidently Ja’Ron Smith, a special assistant for domestic policy. Neither works in the West Wing.

Trump’s tweets come in response to a series of secret recordings Manigault Newman has been sharing with the press about her final days at the White House in the days leading to the release of her new memoir “Unhinged: An Insider’s Account of the Trump White House,” which depicts Trump as a racist who used the N-word repeatedly while filming “The Apprentice.”

On Friday, White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders said the book is “riddled with lies and false accusations.”

Manigault Newman gave NBC’s “Today” show a recording of a phone conversation with Trump in which he claimed to have not been aware of her dismissal.

“You know they run a big operation, but I didn’t know it. I didn’t know that. Goddamn it. I don’t love you leaving at all,” Trump can be heard saying.

She also shared audio of Kelly firing her inside the Situation Room with “Meet the Press.” She said she secretly recorded several White House conversations to protect herself.
