Trump mocks Harris for skipping campaign trail events Tuesday as he cancels his own stop
WASHINGTON - The campaign stamina wars rage on.
Former President Donald Trump mocked Vice President Kamala Harris for staying off the campaign trail Tuesday – but he again raised questions about his own schedule by canceling an event with some of his most vocal supporters.
Harris sat for two interviews on Wednesday, with NBC News and Telemundo. The Republican candidate was set to participate in a "virtual town hall" on health issues impacting Americans with two prominent endorsers, Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., and former U.S. Rep. Tulsi Gabbard, D-Hawaii.
Trump's campaign canceled the event, dubbed the “Make America Healthy Again” town hall, saying in a statement it was due to a "scheduling change" without providing additional details.
Trump has canceled a series of media events in recent weeks, which has fueled criticism from Harris and other Trump critics about the health and stamina of the 78-year-old former president.
Politico reported last week that online news site The Shade Room, while angling for a sit-down with the former president, was told by Trump advisers that he was “exhausted and refusing [some] interviews..."
The Republican nominee also canceled an appearance before the National Rifle Association because of scheduling conflicts, the campaign and the NRA said last week.
“If he can’t handle the rigors of the campaign trail, is he fit to do the job?” Harris said last week at a rally in Michigan.
Responding to Harris' jibe, Trump told reporters that "I'm not even tired. I'm really exhilarated."
Trump did keep two events on his schedule Tuesday; he hosted an roundtable focused on Hispanic voters in Doral, Florida, and holds a rally tonight in Greensboro, North Carolina.
During the Florida roundtable, Trump also questioned Harris' campaigning schedule. He noted that the vice president did not have public campaign events on Tuesday.
"Who the hell takes off when you have 14 days left?" Trump said, calling her "lazy."
