NEED TO KNOW
Trump proposes new tariffs
President-elect Donald Trump said he plans to enact new tariffs on Mexico, Canada and China on day one of his presidency in retaliation for what he says is an influx of crime and illegal immigration from those nations.
The tariffs: He said he’d levy a 25% tax on all products imported from Mexico and Canada, and an additional 10% tax on products from China until they “solve” the issues of illegal immigration and fentanyl entering the U.S. from their countries. [CNN]
Border update: China said it has taken steps in the last year to help stop drug trafficking from the country. Meanwhile, as arrests for illegally crossing the border from Mexico have fallen near a four-year low, arrests on the Canadian border have risen. [AP]
Tariff impacts: Implementing tariffs on the U.S.’s top three trade partners could potentially raise prices on products including toys, clothing and electronics, as American companies, which pay the tariffs, typically pass the cost down to consumers. [BBC News/ABC News]

3 QUESTIONS
...about Thanksgiving entertainment
The upcoming long holiday weekend is the perfect chance for a binge-watch. I asked Yahoo Entertainment reporter Kelsey Weekman for some recs.
Jessica: Is there one Thanksgiving special worth catching on turkey day?
Kelsey: I think it’s the perfect time to stream cozy fall movies like Knives Out and A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving. But, if you’re a Charlie Brown fan — and who isn’t?! — then that one special might have to be the “Peanuts Night” holiday episode of The Masked Singer.
Jessica: What’s a good show to watch over the long weekend?
Kelsey: After the star-studded Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, I love spending the holiday weekend catching up on bingeworthy TV. I recommend Netflix’s comedy series A Man on the Inside and HBO’s The Batman spin-off The Penguin.
Jessica: What about movies: Anything in theaters that you’d recommend?
Kelsey: We’ve got a trifecta of blockbusters in theaters this weekend! Moana 2 is finally out tomorrow, and if you haven’t seen Wicked or Gladiator II, now’s the time. A Real Pain and Conclave are also in theaters, and are likely to be contenders this awards season.
And, in sports: The Dallas Cowboys and Detroit Lions carry on their Thanksgiving tradition in two games.
FEEL-GOOD MOMENT
Makenzie Van Eyk was in fourth grade when she threw a message in a bottle into a lake. More than 25 years later, the bottle was recently found by a student at her old school, where her daughter is also in fourth grade. “I was awestruck by the irony,” Van Eyk said. [Washington Post]
Have a great day. See you tomorrow!
?? P.S. Before you go, your daily advice: If you’re going to give your dog table scraps this Thanksgiving, avoid anything with onion or garlic, among other things. [People]
