Trump recommits to Sept. 10 debate against Harris
In a wide-ranging press conference at Mar-a-Lago, Donald Trump recommitted to a Sept. 10 debate with Kamala Harris on ABC while at the same time criticizing her background.
Debates: Trump also called for two more debates in September — one on Fox and another on NBC. Harris later confirmed she’d participate in the ABC debate and said she’d be open to the others. [CNN]
Other comments: Trump again attacked Harris’s racial identity, claimed his Jan. 6, 2021, speech drew bigger crowds than Martin Luther King Jr.’s “I Have a Dream” speech and seemed open to revoking access to the abortion pill. [ABC News]

3 QUESTIONS
...about basketball at the Olympics
The U.S. men’s basketball team is working toward its ninth consecutive Olympic gold medal, while the women’s squad is looking for its eighth. I talked to Yahoo Sports writer Jay Busbee about their tournaments.
Lily: You’re in Paris. What’s the atmosphere like in that basketball arena?
Jay: Unreal. As charged as I’ve ever seen anywhere. These are the best basketball players on the planet, and the audience revels at being so close to greatness.
Lily: Who have been your favorite U.S. players to watch?
Jay: I’d say Kevin Durant and A’ja Wilson. Durant will become the most decorated men’s basketball Olympian of all time in Paris, and Wilson is simply unstoppable in every phase of the game. If there’s an answer for her, the world hasn’t found it.
Lily: What do these teams need to do to bring home a gold medal?
Jay: For the men, the gap between the U.S. and the world is narrowing (just look at yesterday’s game), and a loss of focus could mean disaster. For the women, I would say, “just suit up.” Not to be glib here, but the women have won 59 straight Olympic Games. I expect them to do the same in their semifinal.
