Trump running mate Sen. JD Vance to visit Big Rapids Tuesday

Republican vice presidential candidate Sen. JD Vance is to visit Big Rapids Tuesday as Michigan remains a frequent stop for the presidential nominees and their running mates.

Vance, the junior senator from Ohio, will visit a northwestern Mecosta County horse farm in central Michigan to discuss the economy, inflation, and manufacturing, the campaign said in a news release.

It will be Vance's fourth visit to Michigan since former President and Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump chose him as his running mate in July. Most recently, Vance visited Byron Center, about 15 miles south of Grand Rapids, on Aug. 14.

Michigan is one of a handful of key battleground states that are expected to decide what polls show is a close election between Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris, who officially accepted the Democratic Party nomination at a convention in Chicago Thursday.
