Two women arrested in connection with fatal Bourbon Street shooting

NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — Two women have been arrested in connection with a fatal shooting that happened on Bourbon Street over the weekend.

On June 22, the New Orleans Police Department reported officers responded to the 600 block of Bourbon Street near the intersection at Toulouse Street around 4:07 a.m., where they found a man who had been shot.

He was taken to a hospital, where he later died.

The Orleans Parish coroner later identified the victim as 39-year-old Christopher Oatts, Jr.

On June 24, NOPD detectives said they identified 22-year-old Mia Lindsey and 26-year-old Maraiah Campbell as suspects and obtained warrants for their arrest following an investigation.

NOPD officials said Lindsey and Campbell were arrested in Columbia, Mississippi, and are waiting to be extradited to Orleans Parish.

According to the NOPD, Lindsey faces a charge of second-degree murder, and Campbell faces a charge of accessory after the fact to second-degree murder.

NOPD officials said they worked with the Louisiana State Police, the FBI New Orleans joint Violent Crime Task Force and Violent Crime Abatement Investigation Team, the Columbia Police Department and the Marion County Sheriff’s Office.
