Two fatal Oakland weekend shootings being investigated as homicides

(KRON) — The Oakland Police Department is investigating two separate homicides that took place over the weekend. The first incident occurred just after 7 p.m. on Saturday in the 8400 block of Edes Avenue. Oakland PD officers responded to a report of a person being shot.

Arriving at the scene, officers found a victim suffering from at least one gunshot wound. Paramedics transported the victim to a nearby hospital where they were pronounced dead.

The second incident occurred early Monday morning, just after 12:45 a.m. Officers responded to another report of someone being shot in the 8400 block of Enterprise Way. At the scene, police found the victim, a man from Hayward, suffering from at least one gunshot wound.

Paramedics transported him to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Oakland PD Homicide Section detectives are investigating both shootings as homicides. The victims’ names in both incidents are being withheld pending next of kin.
