Two teenagers arrested after Kenner police chase ends in crash in Metairie

KENNER, La. (WGNO) — A 15-year-old and 14-year-old were arrested after a police chase that began in Kenner ended in a crash in a Metairie canal on Tuesday, July 30.

The Kenner Police Department reported that at 2:15 a.m., a FLOCK camera picked up a Kia Soul that was reported as stolen on July 28. Officers found it at the corner of Airline Highway and Williams Boulevard.

A chase began, and the Louisiana State Police and Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office assisted.

According to the KPD, the car hit a parked vehicle and then crashed into a drainage canal in Metairie near West Napoleon Avenue and North Hullen Street.

The driver and passenger both tried to run, but they were caught shortly after. The KPD reported the driver is a 15-year-old from Kenner and the passenger is a 14-year-old from Metairie.

The driver was charged with illegal possession of stolen things, aggravated flight from an officer, possession of tools for a crime, resisting an officer and possession of marijuana.

The passenger was charged with illegal possession of stolen things.
