Two teenagers under the age of 16 arrested after stolen vehicle pursuit in Wisconsin
MONONA, Wis. (WFRV) — Two boys under 16 were arrested early Thursday after leading police on a vehicle and foot chase in a stolen car.
According to a release, on Oct. 17, 2024, around 1:15 a.m., a Monona Police Department officer noticed a car traveling without taillights on Highway 12 near Monona Drive. The vehicle lacked license plates, a tactic commonly used by car thieves.

The officer attempted a traffic stop, but the driver accelerated, initiating a pursuit. Given favorable traffic conditions, the pursuit continued as the vehicle headed onto Highway 14 into Fitchburg.
A tire deflation device was successfully used near County Road MM and Lacy Road, slowing the car, which then traveled east toward Monona. The driver exited the moving vehicle, which subsequently rolled into a parked car. Both the driver and passenger fled on foot.
A K9 officer assisted in the chase, warning the suspects to stop. When the driver continued fleeing, K9 Jakko was deployed, biting the suspect’s foot and pant leg to detain him. A drone helped locate the passenger, who eventually surrendered.
The suspects, a 15-year-old from Madison and a 14-year-old from Fitchburg, were taken to the Dane County Juvenile Reception Center after a medical evaluation. The driver faces charges for fleeing and operating a vehicle without consent, while the passenger is charged with being in a stolen vehicle.
