Two troopers injured while making arrest on Bourbon Street

NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — Two troopers with the Louisiana State Police’s Troop NOLA were injured while making an arrest on Bourbon Street on Tuesday, July 2.
The LSP reported that troopers identified a “suspicious person” while patrolling on Bourbon Street.

LSP officials said the person, later identified as Damon Dawson, tried to run after making contact with the troopers but was later arrested.
While making the arrest, LSP officials said one trooper sustained a “serious neck injury” and another sustained a minor injury.
According to the LSP, Dawson had various narcotics in his possession at the time of the arrest.
