Unclaimed billions! $1.13B Mega Millions ticket still up for grabs in New Jersey

If you are still holding on to lottery tickets from March, you may want to check them — again.

The historic $1.13 billion Mega Millions ticket remains unclaimed.

According to a statement from the New Jersey Lottery, months after announcing the winning numbers for the highest jackpot ever sold, the lucky winner has yet to come forward to collect their winnings.

"The $1.13 billion Mega Millions jackpot from Tuesday, March 26 that was won by a single ticket in Neptune, New Jersey, remains unclaimed at this time," said the state lottery.

One winning ticket matching all six numbers was sold at ShopRite Liquors in Neptune. The winning numbers are: 7, 11, 22, 29 and 38, plus the gold Mega Ball 4.

This was the fifth-largest Mega Millions jackpot in the history of lottery winnings and the largest jackpot ever won in New Jersey, according to the lottery's records. The ticket is worth $1.13 billion and has a cash value of $537.5 million.

The New Jersey Lottery recommends that the winner sign the ticket, make copies of it, contact professional legal and financial advisors, and call them at 800-222-0996 to file the claim.

In New Jersey a Mega Millions winner can remain anonymous and have one year to claim the Mega Millions prize. However, to file a claim, proper identification must be presented for internal processing and for reporting to the Internal Revenue Service, according to njlottery.com.
