KINGSPORT, Tenn. (WJHL) – The United Way of Greater Kingsport (UWGK) reflected on its 2023 accomplishments and looked to how it can positively impact the area this year at its annual meeting.
On Thursday, the organization gathered at the V.O. Dobbins, Sr. Complex. During the meeting, UWGK leaders celebrated partnerships with 26 member agencies and the funding of 32 programs that had a positive impact on roughly 25,000 people in 2023.

UWGK Executive Director Danelle Glasscock told News Channel 11 that the organization also took the opportunity to thank one of its own.
“We’re really looking back at last year, celebrating our board chair, Kelly Price,” Glasscock said. “She’s also the president and CEO of Eastman Credit [Union]. She’s done a beautiful job serving as our board chair this year giving us a lot of time.”
The annual meeting also gave the United Way of Greater Kingsport a chance to preview its plans for 2024, which will mark its 90th anniversary.
“We’re also allocating our dollars for our member agencies this year,” Glasscock said. “We are giving out almost $2.5 million this year, and so we’re excited about that and excited to be a part of this community.”
Those allocated funds will be distributed to member agencies and other programs throughout the year.
“The needs of our community just continue to grow as we know the impacts of inflation, and housing shortages in our community have really played a part in many people’s lives,” Glasscock said. “We continue to strive to do the best we can to help serve and improve lives in our community.”
