Vampire Diaries star quit show due to Paul Wesley split
Torrey DeVitto has opened up about her decision to leave The Vampire Diaries, confirming it was due to her split from Paul Wesley.
The actor played Dr Meredith Fell during the hit supernatural show's third and fourth seasons, during which time she was married to Wesley, who also starred on the show as Stefan Salvatore.
However, the former couple divorced in 2013 after two years of marriage, which DeVitto described as a "really dark time" in her life.

"It was [public]. It was the first time I did something like that. Because he was on a really big show that was really popular, so it did draw [attention]," she shared during a recent appearance on Rachel Bilson's Broad Ideas podcast.
On her decision to leave TVD, DeVitto continued: "I was [on it], but I only did like six episodes. And then once we were splitting up I was like, 'Pfft, not going back there'.
"I'm not that kind of person that's like, 'Well, this is business, I can stay'. It's like, 'No. I don't want to come back. I'm good, thank you'."

The Chicago Med star went on to share that the divorce garnered more attention than what she had been "prepared for", adding: "And then it was hard too because for a couple years, anybody that I would date afterwards, people would just [say], 'He's so disgusting. He'll never be [Wesley]. How could you do this?'"
Last year, DeVitto announced her engagement to director Jared LaPine, who popped the question during a romantic stroll on their farm.
The couple are now expecting their first child together, which DeVitto announced via Instagram in May.
Sharing a sweet photo of her growing bump, the actor wrote: "Baby girl arriving this November."
