Editor's Note: A previous version of this story said the Iowa City Police had found the witness they were looking for. However, the police said in an email shortly after 5:30 p.m. on March 18 that they had not found the witness.

A man was arrested last week in Iowa City after allegedly stabbing someone and pushing them into a river.

Yossarian Williams, 47, allegedly started an argument on Saturday, March 16 near Benton Street when police say Williams stabbed a person in the chest with a knife and "shoved" them into the Iowa River.

Williams then allegedly told the victim, who was still in the water, that they were "going to die."

The victim was transported to the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics for emergency surgery and was in critical condition, according to the initial complaint filed Saturday.

Williams was charged with one count of willful injury causing serious injury, a Class "C" felony.

He was arrested shortly after last week's incident and is being held at the Johnson County Jail. His bond was set at $10,000.

The initial criminal complaint listed Wiliams as a transient, a term that generally means "homeless" or "passing through." Police discovered Williams' Washington driver's license when he was arrested.
