VIDEO: Albuquerque police arrest teen suspect in Coronado Center shooting

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – The Albuquerque Police Department released video showing officers arrest 17-year-old Nathaniel Martinez, who is accused of shooting a mall security guard at Coronado Center. Officers can be seen chasing Martinez who ended up in handcuffs after the foot chase.

Police said Martinez was found sleeping inside Fuddruckers at the mall and a security guard asked him to leave. They say a fight broke out and the teen shot the guard, injuring him. An officer spotted Martinez at a bus stop and asked him if he saw anyone with a gun. Martinez then took off running across a busy Louisiana Blvd. and into a parking lot where he surrendered. Police say he threw a gun under a nearby car before surrendering.

Martinez will be held behind bars while awaiting trial. He is facing several charges including aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.
