VIDEO: Baton Rouge police officer saves woman trying to jump from Mississippi River bridge
BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — The Baton Rouge Police Department released body camera footage of an officer saving a woman’s life.
According to the police, around 11:30 p.m. on May 6, officers were responding to a crisis at the Mississippi River bridge where a woman climbed the guardrail and was threatening to jump.
BRPD Officer Jakiya Jones stepped in to save the woman’s life. Jones slowly walked toward the woman as she was talking to her.
All BRPD officers have been certified in crisis intervention training.
Body camera footage shows the efforts of first responders to calmly and safely get the woman to safety.
