VIDEO: A look inside the Darlene 3 Fire consuming parts of Deschutes County

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — The Darlene 3 Fire sweeping through more than 3,000 acres of Deschutes County has prompted evacuation orders near La Pine since Tuesday.

In its first 24 hours, the fire grew by more than 2,000 acres. Between Wednesday afternoon and Thursday morning, it swelled again and is now sitting at 3,889 acres — or 6 square miles.

Video from Central Oregon Fire, first shared on social media, gives an inside look of the flames that have spread rapidly as overnight crews created lines along the east side where the fire was growing.

The fire is currently listed as 30% contained, according to firefighters on the scene.

There are Level 3 evacuations for the area east of Highway 97 and north of Reed Road, including areas off Rosland Road and Newberry Estates.

A temporary evacuation site is set up at La Pine High School for residents in need of support.
