Wanted: Disney princess nanny. Pays $53,000. Ability to 'commit to a character' a must
All nanny jobs have their challenges and some perks.
This part-time gig comes comes with a salary of $53,000 and entails watching over two 5-year-old twin girls who "can be little terrors at times!"
And the requirement that the nanny dress up as a Disney princess every day.
Perk? Definitely a quirk. The ad placed by a family on childcare.co.uk acknowledges in the first sentence that it is a "slightly unusual request."
Disney princess costumes are included, so there's that.
The ad was placed by a family living in Hertfordshire in the United Kingdom.
The mom explained in the ad that, of course, their twins love Disney princesses. But Disney princesses represent so much more than iconic costumes. They demonstrate model character, too.
"Like most 5-year-olds, our girls are obsessed with Disney and we feel this would be the best way to communicate some important values," she wrote. "We know this isn’t a normal request for nannies, however we think it would be a great way to teach our girls about things like determination, compassion, fearlessness and ambition from strong yet relatable female role models like Princess Tiana, Princess Anna, Belle and Cinderella."
The nanny hired would adopt a different Disney princess every month, switching among Princess Anna, Moana, Rapunzel and Princess Merida, for example.
The nanny also would weave in Disney-related activities such as arts and crafts, baking and singing, after picking the girls up from school four days a week.
The mom said it's not simply enough to dress the part. She wants a nanny who can bring Disney magic to her home.
"We are looking for someone who can commit to a character and create a really fun atmosphere in our home, but also won’t be afraid to be a disciplinarian if the twins are naughty or act out — they can be little terrors at times! The right person will have a real creative flare as well as a passion for all things Disney and will be able to share that love of those characters with our girls."
Does that sound like you or someone you know? The family invites any "Disney-mad nannies out there" to get in touch. So far, the ad has been viewed more than 500 times.
