‘War zone:’ See the storm damage at an apartment building in Parma Heights
PARMA HEIGHTS, Ohio (WJW) – The roof of a garage at the Kingsdale Apartments now sits in the parking lot where it landed during Tuesday’s storm.
Tenant Kimberly Rabek was inside her apartment at the time but wasn’t taking any chances as the storm grew fierce around 4 p.m.

First, she lost power and then she said, “I grabbed the cat and ran into the bathroom with her. Once everything calmed down after what sounded like the roof caving in, I looked out my sliding door and realized that the roof from the garages were {sic} feet from my door.”
The roof sheared off, layers peeled back and crumpled up against the building, a few windows were blown out but everyone took cover.
Rabek described the terror of it: “It wasn’t like a rushing or sound of a train. It was quiet and then it sounded like the roof caving in. And banging and it was loud.”

She couldn’t believe her eyes, describing it as, “A war zone. I mean debris everywhere, just brick and wood and garage doors. It’s a mess.”
A car in the parking lot was nearly sliced in half by flying debris.
And many of the possessions people had in storage in the garage will be a loss.
But at least, she adds, “Nobody was hurt.”
