PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — An Alaska Airlines flight made an emergency landing at Portland International Airport Monday afternoon.
The moment was captured on video by a bystander. It shows the front wheel wobbling on the runway after touching down at PDX.
Flight 2020 operated by Horizon Air was originally slated for Redmond, Oregon from Seattle. However, the plane diverted from its planned route and landed in Portland due to a problem with its hydraulic system, an Alaska Airlines spokesperson told KOIN 6 News.

The hydraulic issue impacted the steering of the front wheel. Everyone on board was safe after the landing and made it to their destination less than two hours later on a replacement plane. The plane that had the hydraulic problem is now being inspected.
Below is the statement Alaska Airlines sent KOIN 6 News:
“Yesterday, flight 2020 operated by Horizon Air flying from Seattle to Redmond, Ore. – diverted to Portland, Ore. due to an issue involving the hydraulic system that controls various systems on the aircraft, including control of the nose wheel steering. Our flight crew is trained for scenarios like this, declared an emergency for priority landing, and landed without incident. We swapped the aircraft and guests arrived to their destination about two hours later than scheduled. The aircraft is being inspected by our maintenance team. We apologize to our guests for the inconvenience.”
