WATCH: Bear rescued from tree in Wilkes-Barre
UPDATE: According to a Pennsylvania Game Warden, the 185-pound female bear was uninjured and released on State Game Lands.
WILKES-BARRE, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — A bear had to be rescued Tuesday morning after it got stuck in a tree in Luzerne County.
Just after 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, crews were called to Carey Ave in Wilkes-Barre for a bear stuck in a tree.
Officials say the road was closed while authorities removed the bear.

Nearby residents had to be evacuated from the area before authorities could tranquilize the bear.
According to the State Game Warden, the bear had been in the tree since Monday night after wandering from a wooded area.
The bear will now be checked for injuries and then taken to state game lands.
