Man drowns in Tualatin River near Jurgens Park
PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A man drowned in the Tualatin River at Jurgens Park early Sunday evening, officials said.
Around 5:40 p.m. TVFR was called to the scene after a man reportedly went under the water and didn’t come back up. The water rescue team launched a boat, plus divers and drone support was used, TVFR’s Jacob Fuhrer told KOIN 6 News.
The man’s body was found about 35 minutes after the initial call was made. Emergency responders examined the man, who had already died before being found.
The man, later identified as Jeremiah Joshua Baldwin, 42, was not wearing a life jacket at the time and investigators said he was struggling to stay above water while helping his child float.
A chaplain was called to the scene. No further information is available at this time.
