Webb City man sentenced for second murder he committed in 2020
LAMAR, Mo. — A Webb City man pleads guilty for his role in a 2020 Barton County murder.
This afternoon, Tre Ackerson, 29, pleaded guilty to second-degree murder. Judge David Munton sentenced Ackerson to 20 years in prison. That sentence will run concurrent to a separate murder case Ackerson pleaded guilty to. Back in September, a federal judge sentenced Ackerson to life in prison for the July 2020 kidnapping and murder of Jolene Campbell.

Today’s guilty plea was for the murder of Terry Harless, 51, of Lamar, which happened a week after Campbell’s murder.
In the Lamar case, Ackerson and another man, Lane Bronson, shot Harless multiple times at a residence. A witness told police Ackerson, Bronson, and another man showed up at the residence and were talking to Harless. The witness told police he was at the house and during the conversation he felt uneasy about the gathering so he left and went down the street to a convenience store. When the man returned, police were already on scene and Harless was dead.
Bronson pleaded guilty for his role in Harless’ murder back in October and is scheduled to be sentenced next week.
