New website will help commuters navigate New Orleans roadwork
NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — A new website launched by Greater New Orleans, Inc. is a one-stop shop where commuters can learn about several major roadwork projects happening downtown.
With Super Bowl LIX just six months away, the City of New Orleans and its partnering agencies are busy at work, getting the city ready for the big game that’s expected to bring hundreds of thousands of people to the big easy.

“There’s roadwork, there’s sidewalk work, there’s Sewerage and Water Board work, lighting work,” said GNO, Inc. President and CEO Michael Hecht. “The bad news is that that’s going to cause some temporary inconvenience for our residents.”
That’s why Greater New Orleans, Inc. has launched the website nolastreets.info. There, you’ll find a list of major roadwork projects.
“It’s not everything,” explained Hecht. “It’s simply the biggest disruptions, what the timing is on those getting done, the agency in charge because it could be the city, it could be the state, it could be the Sewerage and Water Board, and then a quick little map, so you can glance at it.”
Drivers admit the ongoing roadwork has been a hassle. “Yes, especially when I’m on my way to work, it’s just ridiculous,” said one New Orleans driver.

They’re hoping the new website will make their morning commute easier.
“I think it’s a brilliant idea,” the driver said after being informed about the website.
Other commuters agree.
“I think that will be a great opportunity, that way, you can plan ahead and kind of see what detours you can take to save some time as well,” said Vashti Matthews, who lives in New Orleans.
