Many have compared The Weeknd to icon Michael Jackson and the star himself has named the Thriller star as one of his all-time favorites (along with the rest of the world, of course). So the nod wasn’t very subtle when Jackson’s daughter, Paris, introduces the “Starboy” crooner’s Grammys performance.

“A legend once said that a star can never die, it just turns into a smile and melts back into the cosmic music, the dance of life,” the pop royalty stated onstage.

“The artist about to take the stage is a shining star whose cosmic style has embraced the very roots of music, from R&B to soul to hip-hop and now pop music. Joined by his genius collaborators and robot friends, Daft Punk, we have here tonight a real starboy.”

Pretty sweet, no?

The Weeknd then took to the stage with other-worldly and legendary electronic duo Daft Punk, who wore their signature space age regalia.

The trio then performed hit song “I Feel It Coming.” With a smoky set providing the divine backdrop, the Canadian singer walked and sang around the stage while the French pair stood behind their supernatural podiums.

This was a fun return for Daft Punk who took home the coveted Record of the Year and Album of the Year awards back in 2014 for “Get Lucky” and their hit album Random Access Memories. Starboy was released too late to make the GRAMMY cutoff, but we’re absolutely certain it will get a few
