Western Wisconsin Sheriff’s Office locates missing hunter after 15 hour search
(WFRV) – The Buffalo County Sheriff’s Office announced that a 74-year-old man who went missing from his hunting partner was found after a 15-hour search.
Around 7:35 p.m. on Wednesday, the Buffalo County Communication Center received a call about a missing hunter in the Tiffany Wildlife Area Nature Preserve, located in the Township of Maxville.

The missing hunter, according to the release, hadn’t returned to a predetermined meetup spot around 5 p.m., where his partner was located. The release added that a ground search was conducted using a K-9, looking in the last known location.
An aerial drone search conducted through the night was also performed. A large-scale ground search along with the Wisconsin State Patrol and other law enforcement drones was successful on Thursday morning, as they located the man around 10:45 a.m. on railroad tracks in the area.
The man was evaluated and cleared by medical professionals and reunited with his family. Over 125 First Responders were part of the successful search efforts.
