Westlife say fans now throw them big knickers instead of G-strings

Westlife have revealed that their fans now throw them big pants instead of tiny G-strings.

The boy band, comprised of Shane Filan, Markus Feehily, Kian Egan and Nicky Byrne, found fame in the late 90s.

The singers are now in their 40s and making a comeback - and joked that the audiences have changed a bit too.

Filan told The Sun: "We get fans chucking their knickers at us all the time.

“One of the last ones, this woman threw up quite a large pair of knickers, it was funny, they were massive. Myself and Nicky got into them. We walked around on stage in Manchester wearing them while we sang a song before throwing them back to her.”

Egan teased: “I was going to say, they are not little G-strings any more.”

The band, which included Brian McFadden at the time, got together in 1998.

They had a string of hits with songs including 'Flying Without Wings', 'My Love' and 'Queen Of My Heart'.

McFadden left in 2004 and eight years later the band split up.

However, they reunited in 2018, and this month unveiled new album Wild Dreams.

Byrne told the publication that the album was created during lockdown.

He said: “You know when people talk about lockdown babies? It was a lovely experimentation because when people were making their banana bread, we instead threw spices into different songs.”
